Emergency Help

The Emergency Department is located along Don Quixote St., Sampaloc Manila and is open 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. Patients and their relative/s or companion can walk-in at the Emergency Department. Patients could also be referred or have been given instruction by their attending physician to proceed to the Emergency Department.

St. Jude General Hospital & Medical Center, Inc. is located at the corner of Dimasalang and Don Quixote St., Sampaloc, Manila. Patients, Doctors and Visitors may use as a reference/landmark the famous “Dangwa Flower Market”.

The hospital can be easily accessed from any point of Metro Manila either by private or public transportation. A variety of transportation modes are available which the riding public can choose from.

St. Jude General Hospital & Medical Center (SJGHMC), a non-sectarian institution, was established in honor of St. Jude Thaddeus depicting the true Christian spirit with the end in view of augmenting the nursing and health needs of Filipino in consonance with the programs of the Department of Health.

It started in 1950 as St. Jude Clinic and Maternity with 12 beds capacity, founded by Dr. Ramon D. Atienza Jr., an Internist-Cardiologist and his wife Dr. Felicidad Calip-Atienza, an OB Gynecologist, to render medical and maternity services.

In 1963 a two (2) storey building was put-up with 50-beds capacity. In 1968, it was expanded into a five (5) storey building with 150-beds capacity, and became a general training ground and a teaching institution. As such, complete facilities were provided for the comfort and convenience of both patients and hospital staff. The building was inaugurated on the feast of St. Jude on October 28, 1968. Also, in the same year, General Hospital status was achieved.

Obstetrics and Gynecology

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is composed of a team of compassionate and highly qualified medical professionals who are committed to provide the highest level of personalized reproductive healthcare care.

Its offer a wide spectrum of specialty and sub-specialties of obstetrics and gynecology which includes care of women during pregnancy and childbirth and in the diagnosis and treatment of the female reproductive organs including other women’s health issues, such as menopause, hormone problems, contraception, and family planning.


The Department of Pediatrics is staffed with medical professionals who are fully equipped with specific childcare expertise for newborn through children to ages 18. Their subspecialties cover cardiology, endocrinology, hematology, oncology, gastroenterology and nutrition, neurology, emergency, and critical care.

The team recognizes the crucial stage of child development; hence they are committed to apply their wide knowledge and complete understanding of their physical, emotional, and psychological needs.

Family Medicine

The Department of Family Medicine provides comprehensive health care to patients of all ages and gender through all the stages of life. It offers a wide spectrum of services which includes overseeing preventive care, managing common complaints (e. g. flu, virus infections), diagnosing emerging conditions and managing chronic illnesses (e.g., stroke, diabetes, heart disease, asthma, cancer).


The Dental Institute is a multispecialty dental center offering and specializing in comprehensive dental services such as diagnostic, general, restorative, cosmetic and family dentistry services. Our team of dentists and nurses are trained to provide professional and gentle dental care.

Rehabilitation Medicine

The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine aims to treat and retore functional ability of patients with physical disabilities or impairments affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles and tendons and sports related injuries.

It is staffed with experts (Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapist) well trained in the application of various methodologies and treatments such as electrotherapy, therapeutic exercise, pharmaceutical pain control.

Dialysis Center

The Dialysis Center is equipped with 4 dialysis units catering to three (3) shifts of hemodialysis patients. Patients can enjoy the “No Balance Billing (NBB)” utilizing PhilHealth’s program. It is manned by highly trained and compassionate medical staff who are emphatic to the needs and condition of dialysis patients.

In January 2021, the department will augment the number of its dialysis units bringing to a total of 10 units enabling it to serve 30 patients within the 3 shifts.


The Laboratory Department plays a supportive role in enabling physicians and other healthcare professionals to make accurate diagnostic or therapeutic decisions for their patients. These decisions may involve study of the cause of a disease, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of a disease.

The service offerings of the Laboratory Department include clinical chemistry, clinical microscopy, hematology, immunology and serology and microbiology.

Diagnostic Radiology

The Department of Diagnostic Radiology assists our health care providers visualize physical structures inside the patient’s body using X ray and ultrasound technology. It also enables our health care providers to diagnose the cause of a symptom, monitor how well a patient is responding to a treatment and screen for different illnesses.


The Pharmacy Department is charged with the procurement, stocking, dispensing and utilization of pharmaceutical products among the patients of the hospital.

It is manned by competent and professionally certified pharmacists whose roles are to provide drug information to health care professionals, ensure positive clinical outcomes of all drug therapies and most importantly give patient safety a top priority.

General Surgery

The General Surgery Department is staffed with highly trained and competent surgeons. Its team is committed to deliver quality surgical services including the best practice to speed up healing and recuperation. The medical attention and care you receive before and after your surgery are equally important as the procedure our surgeons will perform on you.

Intensive Care

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides round the clock medical attention and life support to patients who have life-threatening conditions such as serious injury or illness. It is staffed with a multi-disciplinary team highly trained in advanced critical care medicine.
